Continued from Worlds' Finest #7.

This is another two-headed issue, with half the story being about Helena and half about Kara, though the stories are linked together into a single narrative.

Basically, someone has put a bounty on Huntresses, due to issues in her previous solo title, being the '10 it's also very based around a "rouge" Middle Eastern nation, this time the fictional country of Kufra. It's not the most egregious of depictions, but it's still a product of its time. And boy do I feel old talking about the 2010s being something to look back upon!

We start with Huntress in New York being attacked by two assailants, she manages to defeat them both but is seriously injured in the scuffle. She's taken by Pee Gee to her private island to heal up, spending the rest of the issue in a medical bed. Instead, we get these gorgeous full-page spreads of her hallucinating, or remembering, her parents. It stands out the most here because with the "current" Huntress Selina didn't want Helena to be a hero, whereas here it's more Bruce being cautious and Seina more gun-ho! Though with only three panels it still feels natural, the character here (as with the rest of the series so far) just feels right.

Kara does not take this well so go out to find out just who's put the bounty on Huntresses head, after dangling said person at forty thousand (or so) and threatening to drop him, she finds out that the leader of Kufra is bankrolling the bounty.

She then tears through the country's army, getting a chance to show off that famous Kryptonian invulnerability, up to and including tank rounds and missile attacks. The leader sensibly uses the time to hide himself away in a safe room in the palace, which Pee Gee deals with by just tearing the room out of his palace and taking him to a very high place to discuss things with them...

Meanwhile, we have a page with Batman deciding to look into what Damian's been up to, apparently setting him on a course with our two heroes!

This is one of those middle issues that's putting things in place and as such it doesn't really do much, but cruising on the momentum of previous issues I can't dislike this issue. For a start after a few mostly Helena-focused issues (never a bad thing obs), we get to Kara cut loose, and have some fun (though y'know invading another country to do so isn't a good look). It makes me want to check out the next issue, which I feel is always a bonus with anything!
