JSA, volume 1 #52 - Brand New Day
NOVEMBER 2003
10th SEPTEMBER 2003
No, not that one, though it's a reset of sorts!
As such, almost half the issue is a series of vignettes either ending old plots or setting up new ones. Though, don't worry, we have some juicy Power Girl / Wildcat action towards the end!
We start with Jay (Flash) showing Jessie Chambers (formerly Jessie Quick) the recently rebuilt Brownstone, with what must be the most JSA thing as she's taken through the trophy room. (though sadly no Ma Hunkel).
Jessie, having recently lost her connection to the Speed Force, is working as a Business Manager. Jay quickly bows out as Rick Tyler (Hourman) shows up with definite romantic chemistry between the two.
Meanwhile, Hector Hall, currently Doctor Fate, is overlooking the Brownstone as he tries to convince Dawn Granger (Dove) to stay with the JSA, though she has to leave to try and find a missing Hawk.
Also meanwhile, we'll get a lot of these this issue, Cave Carson, along with Michael Holt (Dr Terrific) and Pieter Cross (the current Dr Mid-Nite) examine a crater in Central Park where they'd fought Mordu explaining how the ruined park had been repaired and some mystious sand found in the crater.
To speed run a few scenes, we have Jade and Alan Scott (Green Lantern) visiting Obsidian who, under the influence, had helped the villains recently. Jakeen Thunder plays dress up with the Thunderbolt before peaking out on Courtney (Star Girl) talking to Billy (Captain Marvel) about having discovered that he's actually more her age in his civilian form. Whilst Doctor Gordon argues with Alex Montez about a captured Eclipso in his black diamond.
The (Power) Girl and her (Wild) Cat, part 3
Finally, we get to actual get to the part with Power Girl and Wildcat! They start out of the usual form, with Wildcat only bringing Power Girl along as she is the only one who's bulletproof. Causing Power Girl to zoom ahead to deal with the threat!
Power Girl deals with the terrorists, who pretty easily, as they rely on bullets, and Wildcat is more of a hindrance as he gets in the way of a gunman ready to shoot. Pee Gee reacts too slow, despite having superspeed, but needn't worry as the new Crimson Avenger shows up just in time to take the baddie down!
Unforately, she's not here just to help, as apparently Wildcat set someone up, who went to the electric chair, and she's here to dispense vengeance. Power Girl, despite being normally immune to bullets (as shown earlier), is taken down by her magical guns, and it seems Ted is also taken down by these mystical weapons...
