Continued from Worlds' Finest #5.

If you've been following me for a whilst, first thank you, but you'll know that I'm generally not a fan of overly fighty issues. Not only do I find the combats boring, however well they're drawn, but they're also really difficult to spin out into anything interesting to blog.

This one, or half the issue at least, is mostly fighting but it works (for me) is because the fight is personal and has some personal history (for half of the fighters at least).

Helena is in GOtham to top up the cash she needs from her not!father (Bruce Wayne), when she's interrupted by Daimen Wayne (Robin) who's been noticing money going missing from the Wayne accounts. We're about a decade from the criticism of billionaires, but it admiss if I didn't point out Bruce missing such money going missing. Considering Bruce it's probably because he donates so much, because despite all those "hot takes" he doesn't just beat up poor people in dark allies.

The fight is dynamic and keeps changing and moving, with good expressive interactions (I might be off base but this looks like the Kevin Maguire style of the art).

Meanwhile Power Girl is off in low orbit attaching something to one of Morgan Edge's satellite. Before waving hello to a couple of Russian cosmonauts and crashing through the atmosphere. We have a quick cameo with the other Kara, Supergirl, who I'm sure will play a part sooner or later. Especially as this run is called Family Matters! She also destroys her costume, because this comic has a strange fascination with such things!

But back to the fight! Both of the combatants are thinking about the others fighting style, Helena critisces how Daimens isn't being subtle and not considering civilians (though this to be fair is a rooftop fight) and Daimens notices that she's using both Batmans and Catwoman (her parents) fighting styles. He quickly, and quite brutally takes Huntress down and is about to choke her out, though she breaks the hold and manages to remove his mask. The two notices that they both have Bruce's eyes,  Even though they're both only child, because multiverse!

We get a quick cutaway of the device Kara left on the satellite, used to detect Apolypse energy, is destroyed by a mysterious force...

Helena and Daimen fall off the roof and into a dumpster, where Daimens is about to give the (potentially) killing blow when, in a images that amuses me more than it should, Power Girl literally kicks his butt!

Him finally taken down Helena comes in as a peacekeeper and points out that why yes she's taken some money, but not as often and as much as obviously been taken. Presented with actual logic Daimens agrees t team up with the pair to solves the mystery of who's been taking the money. We finish with they deciding to team up, with Pee Gee in the background picking trash out of Helena's hair, another image that amuses me more than it should. As well as taking me down a rabbit hole of exactly how tall Pee Gee and Huntress are, potential floating making it possible to decide either way, because comics!

Anyway for a relatively slight comics plotwise, I really enjoyed it, we're still getting characters beats and not forgetting what the characters want and need

  1. Very fair take on this issue, but best part for me is the Maguire artwork.
