No so Terrific - Mister Terrific 1, 2 & 7
Let me start by saying I really like Mister Terrific, though based on an older character by now he's his own character. I'm also not apposed to comics that deal with political themes, after all the All-Star/Adventure era had some subtle and not so subtle political comments (for good or ill).
I preface all this for one simple reason, I do not like these comics!
And I really don't like being negative, I'm here to spread the joy of comics, especially those hidden gems that people might not have necessarily discovered (like those Warlord comics). And all respect if you enjoy this one, I'm always interested in
Luckily Kara isn't in the comic much, though that creates its own problem, and until issue 7 it's not really clear it is our Kara. She's just a pretty blonde woman, who happens to be a successful businesswoman, that sometimes shows up in a scene. Apparently, the two of them are dating, or at least enjoying each other's "company", but you doesn't really see it in the issues. Really none of the characters seems to come across really well. To be fair she really doesn't come across well either, part of the problem is we don't get to see anything from her point of view except at the very end.
Part of the problem is that knowing it's Power Girl makes things worse as she isn't seen doing anything heroic, even when things are getting pretty serious (except maybe one scene, but it's unsure as Mister Terrific is the focus). The only scene where we finally see her using her power is superseded as she literally leaves the comic, which also involved (we find later) stealing a Quantum Tunneler. And yes we're also told about the theft in Worlds' Finest, but before all that we get to know Kara and Helena and understand they have good reasons for what they do, here we get none of that she turns up and hangs around a few issues and then goes to be in her own (better comics).
So that was a little bit of a moan, but we're onto other different things next time...
